What’s new in Mediasite 8

In Mediasite 8, there have been new features, workflows, and improvements added. Below are new items discussed in this guide.

     Mediasite now supports Amberscript

     Supports high-contrast theme, which supports users with visual impairments.

     Users can switch UI font to Dyslexie, a font that supports users with dyslexia.

     Users can download audio transcripts.

     Users can add DFXP caption files with multiple languages, which allows viewers to select the language they want in the player

     Users can download captions, transcripts, podcasts, vodcasts, and/or media packages from channels.

     Users can access Caption Editor from Management Portal

Scheduling

     Users can import schedules using CSV files

     Users can set security and visibility on schedules using schedule import files

     Users can create schedules for Mosaic

Video collection management

     Users can update multiple channels at once

     Users can customize presentation metadata displayed in channels and showcases

     Users can change channel menu bar color

     Users can add external links to showcase menus

     Showcase channels have been converted to channels, appear in the channels list and can be managed separately from the showcase containing them.

     Users can add existing channels to showcases.

     Added the ability to download captions, transcripts, podcasts, vodcasts, and/or media packages to channel downloads.

Live streaming

     Users can stream live content from third-party streaming services using RTMP.
