Importing Zoom recordings

Mediasite integrates with Zoom Cloud (Business, Education, or API Plan) to provide an end-to-end workflow for recording Zoom meetings and automatically publishing them to Mediasite. This integrated workflow requires configuring Zoom and adding a media import project to bridge the two systems.

As part of the Zoom configuration, you will create an OAuth app with a client ID, client secret, redirect URL, and scopes. You will also add scheduling tracking fields. Optionally, you can configure Zoom to generate audio transcripts that will be imported with the meetings.

When you configure the OAuth app, you will have to specify information from the media import project and vice versa. We suggest having two browser windows open on your computer so you can configure them in parallel and  easily copy and paste information as needed.

Before you begin adding Zoom media import projects, it is important that you have a solid understanding of the Zoom settings described in this guide. Also, if applicable, you should know how  your organization provisions users and integrates its learning management system (LMS) with Mediasite. For more information, see the “Integrating Mediasite with Zoom” course available on https://learn.mediasite.com/

Zoom import considerations

Consider the following when creating Zoom import projects for your organization:

You must have appropriate permissions to create media import projects. If you do not, contact your Mediasite administrator.

Users do not have to specify ModuleIDs to import Zoom meetings.  In this scenario, imported meetings go into the user’s folder.

We recommend using existing user profiles for Zoom imports. If you choose to import meetings without user profiles, the Zoom import process will create a username that may not work with your organization’s Mediasite user provisioning conventions.

You can enable audio transcripts in Zoom captioning or enable 3rd party captioning services in templates, but they cannot be enabled at the same time. Therefore, if your organization uses 3rd party captioning services and they are enabled in templates, disable Zoom audio transcripts.

Once you import Zoom meetings, they can be managed the same way as presentations created using Mediasite.
