Recording new presentations

You can create new presentations on the Recorder using the Recorder interface. This allows you to record presentations without creating them in advance on Mediasite.  You can use the Recorder interface to create new presentations locally (on the Recorder) or on a Mediasite to which the Recorder has an active connection.

Considerations when recording presentations

Consider the following when creating new presentations on your Recorder:

Local presentations are recorded without connecting to a Mediasite or a media server and are not available for live broadcasts.  Once you have recorded local presentations, you can publish them to Mediasite for on-demand viewing.

Before you can record local presentations, you must create at least one presentation setting.

If you publish a local presentation to an existing presentation on Mediasite after recording, the stream input priorities and encoding settings specified in the presentation settings will override those specified on the presentation. For more information, see Create Presentation Settings.

You can assign a Recorder a default template using Management Portal. If a Recorder uses a default template and has an active Mediasite connection, new presentations created from the Recorder without pre-defined presentation settings will be recorded using the default template’s presentation settings and will be automatically published to the Mediasite.

If the presentation you are recording overlaps with an automated recording, you will receive a message indicating that the Recorder is automatically terminating your recording due to an upcoming automated presentation. Presentations scheduled for automated recording take precedence over manually recorded presentations. For more information, see Managing Schedules.

When you record an audio-only presentation, the Recorder will capture the video and allow you to monitor the recording sessions and preview the final presentation. However, the video will not be available for playback in Mediasite Player.
