Mediasite allows you to integrate Recorders and Pro Recorders into any AV controlled system, including Crestron or AMX systems, using a control module. Recorders communicate with the AV control system using serial communications over RS-232 or TCP/IP protocol over an Ethernet connection.
To integrate a Recorder/Pro Recorder into an AV controlled system, you will do the following:
1. Work with your AV vendor or system integrator to do the following:
a. Develop and deploy a control module for the Recorder based on the MCIP specification. This module, which resides on the AV controller, recognizes the Recorder and sets up communication with the Recorder over a serial interface.
b. Determine which AV touch panels and remote controls to support and customize
c. Design and deploy a touch panel-based user interface to control the Recorder.
d. Design and deploy any additional control logic needed to connect the user interface with the control module.
e. Test and certify the software as needed.
2. On the Recorder, navigate to the MCIP settings on the General Options page, and enable the RS-232 Serial and TCP/IP interfaces.
3. Restart your Recorder.
4. Connect the Recorder to the AV control system via the serial port or one of the network ports. If you are connecting via the serial port, use a serial cable. Most AV control systems support a 9-pin female, D-sub connector and use a null modem serial cable. If you are connecting to one of the network ports, use a standard 8P8C (“RJ-45”) Ethernet cable.
5. Verify the AV control panel works with the Recorder as expected.
