Accessibility features

Mediasite Player includes the following features to make presentations accessible to all members of the audience: screen reader support, captions, and keyboard shortcuts.

Screen reader support

Mediasite Player supports screen readers and allows you to use the Tab, Up and Down arrows, and Enter keys to access features. You will click Ctrl+Z to enable screen reader support.

When you activate screen reader support, all keyboard shortcuts still work. To hear a list of the keyboard shortcuts, press Ctrl+ Shift + Q. For more information, see Shortcut keys

ARIA messages

Mediasite Player provides the following Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) alerts when you seek on the presentation timeline or when a chapter changes as you view the presentation:

When navigating to a certain point in a presentation: 'Seeked to X percent'.

When chapter changes while viewing: 'Entered chapter: X. Y percent'

When navigating to a specific chapter: 'Seeked to chapter: X. Y percent'

You will hear ARIA messages only when using supported screen reader and browser combination.

Captions

Mediasite Player supports presentations with closed captions added. You can search closed caption text in the player for specific words and phrases. If you are viewing the presentation in a catalog, channel, or showcase you can search caption text there also.

The Show Captioning button appears only if closed captions are available in the presentation. For more information, see Navigating Mediasite Player.
