Use captioning service

Closed captions provide text descriptions of the audio for audience members who cannot hear the audio (or hear it well). My Mediasite allows you to submit captioning requests through captioning services using an existing account. Mediasite supports the following captioning services: AI Media, Automatic Sync Technologies® (AST), 3Play Media, 3Play Media-ASR (Automated Speech Recognition), Cielo 24, Verbit, and IBM Watson Speech to Text service using an existing account.

To add closed captions to your presentation using an automated captioning service, you must first enable audio transcriptions on it and specify the provider.

By default, Mediasite uses IBM’s Speech to Text service to generate keywords that will appear in player, catalog, channel and showcase search results. The initial quality provided by this service may not meet the needs of viewers who require captions so consider that when selecting this as your captioning service provider. Use the Caption Editor to update your captions as needed.

You must already have an IBM Cloud account to use this service with Mediasite. Contact your Mediasite administrator or captioning service provider for more information on the captioning service processing times and other details.

To use a captioning service:

2.  Select the Audio Transcriptions check box and select the Choose a Provider for Captioning radio button.

3.  Click in the Select a Captioning Profile field. When the Search Captioning Providers dialog appears, search for and select your captioning service provider.

4.  For services, you will have the option to expedite the captioning job. You will do this by selecting the Request Rush Processing check box. Selecting this option will result in additional charges from your captioning provider.
