What’s new in Mediasite 8

In Mediasite 8, there have been new features, workflows, and improvements added to Mediasite. Below are the new items discussed in this guide.

     Added the ability to select theme: Light, Dark, and High Contrast.

     Added an updated user interface for the "add presentation" page.

     Updated layout and buttons to make more consistent with other applications

     Added a play button to presentations in the My Mediasite grid

     Added the ability to sort content by views, highest to lowest or lowest to highest

     Added the ability to filter search results in My Mediasite by content owner and presentations share with me

Presentation management

     Presentations with closed captions display a captions label

     Added the ability to show only presentations with or without captions

     Added the ability to include present time in presentation when sharing a link via email.

     Added the ability to download media packages.

     Added ability to share presentations and channels using QR codes

     Added ability to customize player’s background color or image

     Updated user interface for the "add presentation" page.

Captioning

     Added support for Mediasite captioning powered by Vidable

     Added support for Amberscript captioning service

     Added the ability to type in exact start/stop times for individual captions in the caption editor

     Added ability to download transcripts

     Added ability to add .dfxp file containing multiple languages

     Added ability to add multiple caption files in different languages

     Add ability to merge and split captions in the Caption Editor using keyboard shortcuts

     Added the ability to switch between multiple existing caption languages in the caption editor, and individually edit and save the languages.

Channels

     Added the ability to customize presentation metadata displayed in channel’s thumbnail display

     Added the ability to change channel menu bar color

     Added the ability to edit some channel settings

     Added the ability to share channel using link or QR code

     Added ability to download captions, transcripts, media packages, podcasts, and vodcasts from channels

Live streaming

Added ability to stream content from third-party streaming services using RTMP.

360⁰ video support

     Added ability to create presentation by uploading 360⁰ video file (MP4)

     Add ability to detect 360-degree videos automatically and to enable or disable 360-degree video playback manually.
