What’s new in Mediasite 8

The following features and enhancements have been added to Mediasite Video Platform:

Streaming

      Added ability to stream live content from third-party streaming services using RTMP.

      Added ability to make live RTMP streams available for on-demand viewing.

      Added support for RTMPS

Jobs and services

      Vodcast and MFVI jobs are part of the Transcode service. No longer need to be installed separately.

Licensing

      Job farm workers do not need licenses.

Security

      Increased the default security of Mediasite. HTTPS used everywhere.

      Client IP address detection (X-Forwarded-For header) enabled by default

      Admins can update client IP address detection for other header types

Troubleshooting tools

      Improved logging when Config Editor is used to reset the system account and system maintenance Jobs, and updates to the Mediasite Directory.

      Added site hostname to live broadcast monitoring UI in Service Manager

      Support added for Server 2022

      Mediasite 8.20 and later now require .NET Framework 4.8+ (Microsoft requirement)

      Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 (recommended)

      Support for SQL Server 2019 and 2022
