Below are characteristics that distinguish showcases from other methods of aggregating content:
What are they? |
Searchable, customizable repositories of Mediasite content, representing a video library. |
Features |
• Showcase and channel registration • Showcases include spotlight channels with selected presentations displayed prominently. • Can customize channel navigation • Supports video previews • Supports social media widgets and buttons, third-party add-ons, and SEO keywords • Showcase channel sharing (links via email, embedding in website) • Supports comments • Supports time-based annotations • Moderators can launch the Moderate application from Showcase to manage questions from the audience as well as comments and annotations. |
What are they optimized for? |
Browsing and searching video collections organized by channels. |
Applications |
• Creating an enterprise YouTube™ • Video portal for event, conference, or department |
Methods of aggregating content in them |
• Automatically add presentations by linking to a Mediasite folder and optionally filtering on a search term • Automatically add presentations using search terms • Manually add a presentation from its Publish tab |
Search features |
Users can enter words or phrases in the search field and Mediasite will scan through the following items to locate presentations containing the specified terms: • Indexed video (closed caption) and slide text • Tags and presentation metadata, including custom fields • Comments • Annotations Considerations: • When indexed video or slide text is included in a showcase’s search results, timeline hits appear for them. Users can use these to view presentations at the times when the search term is found. • Comments and annotations are indexed. Presentations containing comments or annotations meeting the search criteria appear in the results. |
