The role cache stores returned from a single sign-on provider when a user authenticates to Mediasite using SAML 2.0 or Basic LTI. The most common application for this feature is when integrating Mediasite with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Once users begin accessing secured content using the LMS, the roles they belong to are stored in the cache. You can then add roles from the cache and assign permissions to them.
To add roles from the role cache:
1. Click Security > Roles > Add New > Add From Role Cache.
2. Select the check box next to each role you want to add and click Import.
