Record calls for on-demand viewing using the Recorder software (route)

In this option, the Join view is routed to the Recorder and you can select other inputs to include in the final recording. For example, you may want to include the Join view window, which shows all the call participants and a slide image window. You must then select your template in the Recorder UI and start and stop the recording process manually.

You will add Join to your video conference call by specifying the Join Appliance’s IP address and a call string on the bridge. You must then select your template in the Recorder UI and start and stop the recording process manually.

The Join software does not capture the call. It logs the call and sends the content to the Recorder software for it to record. Also both the Recorder and Join must be connected to the same Mediasite server. As a best practice, make sure to do a test video conference recording for each call string BEFORE your first video conference to ensure everything works as expected.

To record calls for on-demand viewing using the Recorder software:

1.  Make a test call from your videoconferencing client or telephone to Mediasite Join using the appropriate call string format + the .route extension. For example, 17122015EMKYDX.route@192.168.1.1.

2.  Once you have successfully connected to Mediasite Join, you will see the Mediasite participant video feed in your call and the video call view will appear in the Recorder software.

3.  In the Recorder UI, select the presentation template you want to use and add additional input sources as needed.

4.  Add additional callers to the video conference. The maximum number of concurrent calls you can make depends on your Mediasite Join license.

5.  Start recording. You will use the Recorder UI controls to pause, resume, and stop recording.

6.  Once you have finished recording, allow time for Mediasite to process the recording. The amount of time it takes will depend on how busy your Mediasite is and the length of the call.

7.  Check the folder location associated with the call string for the finished on-demand presentation.

8.  Verify that you can playback and manage the on-demand presentation in Mediasite.
