Update Recycle Bin settings

Come to the Recycle Bin server settings page to remove deleted resources that are scheduled for removal manually. You will also come to this page to determine how presentations in the Recycle Bin and those with shortcuts are handled.

Manually remove deleted resources

Mediasite's System Maintenance jobs automatically clean up files associated with presentations that have been permanently deleted from the Recycle Bin. However, you can force the removal of deleted resources prior to the scheduled time.

To manually remove deleted resources:

1.  Click Settings > Server Settings> Recycle Bin> Clean Up Deleted Resources.

2.  When the confirmation message appears, click OK.

You will use Configuration Editor to update the time that System Maintenance jobs are run daily.

Update presentation deletion settings

Update the presentation deletion settings as needed to specify how deleted presentations are handled.

To update the presentation deletion settings:

1.  Click Settings > Server Settings> Recycle Bin and specify the following:

Settings

Details

Automatically delete presentations in recycle bin after retention period

Select this check box to remove presentations from Mediasite permanently after they have been in the Recycle for a certain amount of time.  By default, the retention period is 10 days. Update this value as needed.

Presentation Shortcuts

Select the radio button that best fits the policy you want to use when users delete presentations with shortcuts:

Automatically delete shortcuts when associated presentation is deleted: Select this option to have all shortcuts removed when a presentation is sent to the Recycle Bin.

Block presentation deletion when it has associated shortcuts: Select this option to require users to delete a presentation’s shortcuts before they can send it to the Recycle Bin. Users will receive a message indicating the presentation has shortcuts associated with it.

It is important to note that when a presentation is published to a showcase, a shortcut to it is created in the showcase.  Consequently, presentations published to multiple showcases have multiple shortcuts associated with them. You must remove a presentation from each showcase it is included in to get rid of the shortcut.

Archive Content

When content is added to Mediasite through media upload or external media import projects, Mediasite creates an Import Archive content revision and stores the original media file on the content server. Mediasite allows you to manage the amount of disk space used by archived content by disabling archived content or removing archived content after a certain amount of time.

2.  Click Save.
